Hey guys! It's Ximena from @ximenadesigns and Ximena Romero on YouTube!
Today I wanted to talk to you guys about self care and unwinding after a busy day.
You've all probably seen how to prepare for school or things to help you during school, but what about after? What's next? For some it's more hustling and working on a small business or content creation. But no matter who you are and what you do, we all need a bit of relaxing and taking care of yourself. You've probably all heard the saying, "you can't pour from an empty cup." And that's exactly what I'm going to be helping you with today.
Akunna gave some great advice on the importance of mental health last week, so here are some things you can do after a stressful day, week, month even to care for yourself!
1. Go for a walk and listen to some podcast!
This one is one of my favorites! You can take a walk around your neighborhood with a friend, your dog, and you can even listen to some good podcasts. It is scientifically proven that walking relieves stress. Plus, you are exercising, and getting some good info and vibes from your music, podcast, or a nice convo with your bestie! It is a great natural stress reliever and feels so good especially with nice fall weather!
2. Brain Dump
Sometime our brains and ideas are just all confused and it can make things a lot more stressful. I love just getting a piece of paper or on GoodNotes on my iPad and just writing or even drawing anything that comes to mind, anything im stressed about, or things im grateful for. You can literally write anything! This is a great way to let it all out if sharing with people isn't your first resort. Even if you're not stressed, I like doing this when I'm planning my week, so I don't forget anythings and just have it all out!
3. Being Creative
For some people, like me, this is out 'job'. As a graphic designer this is something I'm constantly doing. Even right now, I'm writing a blog post for you guys! Im creating. Even if you are a YouTube, run a small business, etc, you are constantly creating too! But sometimes it's nice to just create with no limits! Seriously, just sit (or stand!) and have no boundaries with whatever you're creating, have fun with it and don't care about other people seeing it. This is a great way to express yourself and exercising those creativity muscles!
4. Try a new recipe!
Baking or cooking is another great way to chill and relieve stress! Making simple cakes for my family is something so fun and nice for other people. Good deeds make you feel good! Maybe baking and cooking is not your thing, so research or invent your own easy snack with things you have right and your pantry! Experiment with things and I don't mean like tons of different oils and powders. It can be as simple as a cheese and ham cracker. I mean...who doesn't like food?
5. The Classic Bath and Body Works...
No, not the store haha. I saved the most basic one you've probably heard of but maybe forgot. And it is to just take a nice shower or bath. Treat yourself to a nice face mask and pampering, literally just relax. It doesn't have to take a whole day, it can be one hour, an afternoon, lunch break. Get cozy and read a good book!
There are so many nice ways you can unwind and relax and I encourage you to try out these tips and let me know if you plan on doing any, or if you have any tips of your own in the comment section! I hope you have a great week, and I'll see you soon!
